The street was bustling with people, as was to be expected. They pored in and out of the shops, the number of bags they were holding multiplied as they slowly made their way from down the street. Many people were moving from one shop to the one directly next to it, no matter what it contained. Many of the people were probably tourists, wanting to see everything they could in the time they were here. Most tourists were fast paced and rushing to cram as much as they could in their time here. At least one of the tourists walking the street, however, didn't care about rushing round. Most people had obligations back at home, this man didn't even have a fixed home. He had as long as he wanted to walk around this city, and he was intending to experience everything properly. A long weekend wasn't long enough to experience everything London had to offer. You could spend weeks, possibly even months, in this city and not see everything there was to see.
Tristram wandered slowly, observing the shoppers and inspecting the shops. He went into a few, but only if they interested him. He could come back later to shop, for the moment he was just observing. The things he was observing were typical of a major shopping area. Crowds of people jostling past each other, trying to carry fifteen shopping bags. Tristram marveled at one woman, who was holding three bags under each arm and a further four in each hand and yet she still felt she needed to visit the next shop, presumably to add another bag to her collection. The funny thing was half of the bags weren't even full. Wouldn't it be easier to put some of the bags into other, less full bags? It would probably be too simple a solution.
The elemental's progress was impeded by a woman stepping into his path. Normally he would just side step or push her out of the way but this woman seemed to want to talk to him. Sure enough, her voice was soon assaulting him, accompanied by the jangling of change coming from the collection tin she was waving in his face. Typical. A charity worker. "Can you give your support to help endangered animals?" asked the Woman. Biting back the response he would normally give, Tristram settled for reaching into his pocket for the little loose change he had and placed it in the tin. He couldn't be bothered arguing for something so unimportant, not today.
"Thank you. Can as ask you to sign up to give £2 a month towards breeding programmes? It's just a small payment and we'll send you a free gift pack including a cuddly toy." The woman persisted. This time shoving a small toy panda under his nose. This he couldn't ignore. "You can ask all you want, it won't help though. Even if I did give £2 a month the 'endangered species programme' would see much, if any of it. Firstly; you ask me to give £2 a month which goes towards your next advert asking me to give £2 a month. And where do all these cuddly toys come from? I bet they cost a fair bit to produce. And, to be honest, I don't really care." The woman looked genuinely hurt at his response. Then again she was probably only a volunteer trying to help the environment. Ah well, she should've done her research. "You could've just said no thanks" The woman muttered as she turned to her next victim. Tristram resumed his course but had barely taken two steps before someone barged past him, whether intentionally or not Tristram didn't care. "Oi!," he shouted at the whoever it was who had pushed past.

Rory had been having quite a productive day if she could say so herself. She was currently leaned invisible against a wall in an ally-way, counting the bill out before slipping most of them into her wallet in her back pockets and slipping a couple of ten pound notes down her top. He dusted herself of before scooping up the several wallets she had, phasing her hands through the concrete floor and pushing them down into the middle of the concrete. Somewhere they would not be found for a very very long time.
She stood up and made her self visible again. Slipping her hands into the pockets of her jeans she slipped back into the street. She was short so she slipped through the crowds very easily, she was also dressed in such a manner no one would expect her to have stolen from them. She had a pair of black boots over the top of a pair of pure white jeans and a grey T-shirt with “Little Miss Naughty” written on it. Her hair hung down around her face and she had a touch of purple eye shadow on. Generally she looked like the most un-threatening person on the planet, doubled up with her short slim stature no one ever suspected her of anything.
She slipped back through the crows, looking for a better mark this time, she was starting to get fed up of working for one day and wanted to find a pub or just some where to relax for a bit. She had enough money to cover the next 5 months rent without even trying and there was enough money sat in her safe at home. She just didn't like it when her funds dropped too low so she was going for preventative measures.
Spotting a good mark she took off after him, slipping through the crowds with ease due to the fact she could phase through people and no one seemed to notice in these busy streets. He was a small man with a really fancy suit, and he had a stupidly packed wallet. People could be idiots around here, they took want to much out of the cash machine and just left it in easily accessible wallets. She bashed herself into a random passer-by so she could hit the guy with the too big wallet. Her hand phased though his jacket and she slipped it into her pocket with ease. The man righted her an apologised before speeding back off into the crowds.
"Oi!,"
Rory whipped her head around, looking quite flustered and apologetic. She was neither really but she was a brilliant actor. Scuro's where generally good at it from birth and she was no different in that respect. She had several differences to Scuro's but she was trying to ignore them lately.
“I'm so sorry, I'm starting to feel a little link a bloody ping pong ball here”
She moved herself out of the path of human traffic into the bubble the man had created by stopping and yelling at her, her hands resting lightly in her pockets with the latest wallet which was currently nicely hidden from everyone. She smiled up at him given her small stature.
“I'm Rory.”

It was a miracle if you managed to avoid getting bumped into on a street like this. It didn't stop Tristram getting annoyed and shouting at people who did it to him. A part of him liked getting annoyed. It was a good way to let off some steam onto a random passer by. It helped to be emotionally distant, like Tristram. Most people weren't all that bothered about being shouted at for little, if any, reason. Some of them even shouted back and they made a nice little competition out of it. There were those, however, who took things to heart and got quite upset. It didn't stop Tristram giving them an earful though. He turned to look at the person who had bumped into him. It was a girl who seemed to have ricocheted off him into another man. The guy she hit helped her to her feet and then actually apologized.
The girl heard his shout and turned. He was fully ready to Yell at her to be more careful. Her expression stopped him, though. She at least looked like she was sorry.
“I'm so sorry, I'm starting to feel a little link a bloody ping pong ball here”
Normally Tristram would have just ignored this kind of apology. They were usually weak attempts by people who didn't care about apologies. It was just one of those things that had been drilled into their heads, like thanking people. You do it all the time but how often do you really mean it. Tristram knew it wasn't often for him. This girl, however, looked sincere. Was it possible she had been knocked into him by someone else?
Tristram wasn't exactly tall, but when this girl moved slightly closer to get away from the people still swarming past, he noticed that she was even smaller. It wasn't hard to believe someone of her stature would be knocked around by busy shoppers who weren't paying attention. He was a bit unsure why the girl decided to introduce herself.
“I'm Rory.”
He didn't know if he really felt like introducing himself. He may as well, though. He had nothing to do really and an odd conversation could be amusing. As long as she didn't suddenly take out a hidden clipboard and try to take a survey. Or make an attempt to sell him something. "I'm Tristram. Mind telling me why you decided to use me to break your fall?" He asked. He didn't say it in an accusing way. His tone suggested he was half joking, though he was interested to hear the answer.

Rory sighed as she actually managed to stand without having to phase her self out every few minutes. She could phase better than most people but it did take energy out of her after a while, and she had been phasing practically all day in order to get the amount of money she had amassed today. She used the slight exhaustion of her powers to make herself took as if she was just tired after trying to navigate the streets. She did think it might be entertaining to make this man's shadow hold him down by the ankles or something... maybe she would do that a little later if he was going to be persistently rude.
"I'm Tristram. Mind telling me why you decided to use me to break your fall?"
If she could of done it without utterly destroying the act of poor little lady being thrown around the streets, she would of rolled her eyes at his question. Even when this guy was half joking he sounded brash and had a very accusatory tone about him. It was at points like these where he wanted to drop the act so she could turn invisible and kick him or something. She pushed the thoughts down as just being another part of her Scuro nature.
Instead she laughed, keeping it light in a playful flirting way and trying to make sure it didn't sound forced. Which to be honest was tricky... some people could pick up on laughs more than anything else.
“I honestly could not point out to you the person that had me bashing me around... I think I need to buy larger heels.. might actually make it so people could actually see me instead of walking directly into me.” .
She rolled her eyes before glancing back at the crowds. Even though she could phase through them all she wasn't actually relishing the thought of going back out into it. Deciding to use the bubble the man was maintaining to regain her energy.

When you're walking through a crowd it's never nice to have to change your course. A man stood in the middle of the street was one of those things that would cause you to do this. How people reacted depended on the person stood there. If the person looked easy enough to move some would try to shove their way past and maybe teach him a lesson while they were doing it. There were some that people just avoided, though. Tristram was one of these people. He just had a look about him that said 'don't try anything'. It was for this reason that there was a small amount of breathing space for him and Rory.
She seemed exhausted. For someone like her thick crowds would probably be hard to get through without taking several knocks. She didn't look like the kind of person that would make a path for themselves. People like Tristram pushed their way past and didn't really care if they knocked past anyone. He also refused to move for other people like him. It was an interesting thing to observe when two unmoving people met. The result was always amusing, as one of them always ended up having to move. Another thing Tristram hated about crowds were the women who used their pushchairs as battering rams, thinking a child gave them a right to force their way through everyone else. Tristram enjoyed stopping dead in front of these people, making them change course. The looks he got were hilarious.
Her laugh sounded a little strange, Tristram couldn't put his finger on how. It didn't seem forced but wasn't just a natural laugh either. He put it down to the fact that she probably hadn't had a very easy day.
“I honestly could not point out to you the person that had me bashing me around... I think I need to buy larger heels.. might actually make it so people could actually see me instead of walking directly into me.” .
"Yeah, good idea. Heels are known for aiding in balance." Tristram replied. The sarcasm in his voice was minimal, just enough to show that he didn't really agree with her idea. Tall heels in a crowd like this must surely be more of a hindrance than a help. All of the quick footwork required would be a lot more difficult in heels. But then again, Tristram couldn't see how women could dance in those things and yet they did. "You should just find a big guy to follow, they're good crowd breakers. Or better yet, save the money you would spend on heels and hire one. Surely they'll work for a McDonald's or something."

“Yeah, good idea. Heels are known for aiding in balance.”
Rory smirked at the sarcasm is his voice, it was actually endearing him to her and actually made him more interesting than a plaything. Rory was however pretty impressive when it came to heals, she rarely ever tripped or fell over but it would be pretty plain to Tristram that she was easily knocked over and fell into people constantly. Seeing as that was what she had done to him barely a few minutes ago.
“You should just find a big guy to follow, they're good crowd breakers. Or better yet, save the money you would spend on heels and hire one. Surely they'll work for a McDonald's or something.”
She tilted her head too one side for a moment as if considering it, she should get a random big guy to walk around with her. She could use him as a nice distraction instead of hurling herself and random passerby's. Although it worked she did actually get fed up of being knocked to the floor.
“Actually. You might be on to something with that one. Would mean less people get to throw me around line the dot in a game of pong.”
He grinned as she glanced around, making sure the traffic of people was still moving smoothly. She rarely loitered around after such a long streak when it came to pick pocketing. Knowing that when some one told the police what had happened they immediately asked if they had bumped into anyone. As if on cue for her thoughts to take such a depressing turn, the man she had pushed into and stolen the wallet from earlier came back. Looking quite flustered with a police officer in tow. The officer obviously bored to death and knowing that this was a futile exercise.
“It was here.. this tiny girl bashed into me. I righted here... and a few minutes later. It's gone.”
“Yes sir, its quite common in this area you see. We are petitioning for more surveillance cameras in the area as this street is somewhat of a black spot.”
Rory grinned, letting a bit of her actual personality shine through to Tristram. She had inherited the Scuro's lack of concern for using her abilities in front of humans. They were easily classified as insane or someone from the supernatural community stepped in and killed some one.
“Sorry hunny, I'm gonna have to love you and leave you..”
Rory blew him a quick kiss before jumping into the very fast moving traffic of the road. Turning invisible before she hit the first car and clearing the street. Making it across in a few seconds before making herself visible again on the other side. She glanced back to wave to Tristram before leaning casually against a stand to buy some chocolate before moving on again. She did enjoy messing with peoples heads. Especially humans.

Tristram liked that Rory seemed to be considering hiring a big guy. He hoped she was taking it as a joke the same as him. Although it would be funny to see her walking up to someone and saying 'I'll give you a big mac if you part crowds for me'. Even funnier if it actually worked. You never know with people. It's what made messing with them fun, they are so unpredictable.
"I'm sure the dot in pong has a lot more fun than you. It must be just like living in a rubber room." He replied, jokingly. It was rare that Tristram was ever completely serious in a conversation. He was usually either joking or making a sarcastic comment. Seriousness was just so boring to him, so dull. Y'know what they say, 'you only live life once'. Tristram intended to have as much fun as possible in that life. Being serious ,and polite, just got in the way.
Tristram noticed the police officer and the man. He guessed what the 'it' was that the man had lost. Well, he had a good guess. What would you care about losing that could easily be taken from, say, a pocket. It would be a wallet, or car keys, or something similar. He wondered whether the girl had hit him on purpose, and quickly confirmed that his own wallet was still in place. He also took a second to quietly laugh at the policeman's response of 'we are petitioning for more cameras'. That meant that, at best, they would get one or two in about a year...
As he turned back to ask Rory about this, he was she was grinning. Was this because she knew he'd guessed?
“Sorry hunny, I'm gonna have to love you and leave you..”
Before he had time to respond to this last sentence Rory had turned and ran... right into traffic. Tristram watched, shocked. But she wasn't slammed from the side and didn't go flying down the road, or beneath a car. She disappeared. It didn;'t take Tristram long to realize what she really was. It took him even less time to decide to follow her. He was interested now and couldn't just let her leave without asking her a couple of questions. Seeing her wave from the other side of the road, Tristram started moving casually forward, as though preparing to cross the road himself. Shortly before reaching the curb he teleported. It was easy enough to appear behind Rory. She would have seen him disappear himself and probably would have come to the same conclusion as he had.
"It's rude to just leave y'know. Rude to steal as well, but I don't judge."

Rory watched as Tristrams eyes found her easily of the other side of the road when she waived to him, faster than she had expected actually, most people had no idea where to look when some one disappeared into a stream of fast moving traffic. The obvious place to look would be the floor as she likely wouldn't of survived that dash if it hadn't been for the fact she could phase through the cars as she ran. Being invisible was all good and well but you could still get hit buy a car when no one could see you. Phasing through cars though was really.. really weird. She'd end up stuck in the car looking down at the car... that was just really weird.
Her eyebrow quirked when Tristram turned to walk towards the road with busy traffic. She tilted her head a little in confusion. It was virtually impossible to cross these roads without nearly getting hit by a car or something so he was pretty much looking a little suicidal to her right about now.
When he vanished though it clicked in his mind that he was an Elemental too by the look of things. Well, that was a bit disappointing. She really enjoyed messing with humans as they where just fun. But at least the man had become a heck of a lot more interesting now. She rarely every spent much time around other elementals, due to her birth for one. He parents both being Terra and her being the run away scuro from the family was enough to put most people of speaking to her. She'd never even met her real father, she had been left to find out about scuro's on her own. It hadn't taken long for her to learn that most people did not like scuro's as a general given rule. It still irritated her.
"It's rude to just leave y'know. Rude to steal as well, but I don't judge."
Rory smirked and turned around to face Tristram, not jumping or being startled by his sudden reappearance. They were both elementals so it wasn't really surprising.
“Well hunny, I did say good bye so that should cancel out the rudeness of vanishing in front of you.”
He smirked before paying for the bunch of chocolate bars she had picked up. Not paying the slightest bit of attention to the person taking the money. When she got her change she slipped in back into her pockets and she moved away from the stall.
“And it's good that you don't judge, cause you've actually made it to the point where you are interesting to me and I don't fancy running through all that traffic all over again.”
She rolled her eyes whilst smirking at the same time, sounding somewhat sarcastic now she actually had the opportunity to drop the I'm a sweet little and innocent girl that couldn't hurt a fly act. Something which she was thankful for because after a while is seriously got boring.

Rory didn't seem all that surprised that he had just appeared behind her. Good. It meant she had some degree of sense and had realized what he was. It was surprising how many elementals were confused when he popped up next to them. Work it out, people, it's not hard. Some of them expected him to be amazed by what they can do as well, and insist on showing off. So you can make a fiery longbow powered by the very oxygen in the air around you, so what? It amazed him how, even though most of them had grown up with things like this and yet were still surprised by them. The only thing that surprised Tristram was when the person put on a front. Made themselves look like a small, harmless, innocent human when, in fact, they were not. Kind of like someone had just done to him recently.
“Well hunny, I did say good bye so that should cancel out the rudeness of vanishing in front of you.”
Tristram could admit she had a point there. He could, but where would be the fun in that? "Merely saying that you're leaving can't be counted as a full and proper end to the conversation if the other participant is unaware of your intentions to leave until you've already done so. You just disappeared before I had a chance to do anything, which is rude." He said, with barely a pause for breath. Small technicalities and loopholes were what made arguments fun, and disproving one was even better.
“And it's good that you don't judge, cause you've actually made it to the point where you are interesting to me and I don't fancy running through all that traffic all over again.”
Following her away from the stall, Tristram wondered if he was supposed to feel happy that she considered him interesting. "So glad I meet your standards. Is traffic dodging ability what you usually look for in a guy? Seems a bit of an odd quality to search for." He asked. Judging by the tone of her voice and the way she rolled her eyes, she was more like him than he thought she was, which meant any response would probably contain at least some sarcasm. To be honest, Tristram preferred the sarcasm to outright denial of his comments. It takes a certain amount of intellect to grasp sarcasm, no matter what people said about it being a low form of wit or whatever.

Rory saw the look in Tristram's eyes just before he came back with the retort. Most people would just go along with what she said – and to be frank that would be perfectly dull. This way was more entertaining. He barely paused for breath as he spoke and even though anyone looking on would likely think them to be arguing or bickering or something as ridiculous. A small smile however on her face would likely confused said people.
"Merely saying that you're leaving can't be counted as a full and proper end to the conversation if the other participant is unaware of your intentions to leave until you've already done so. You just disappeared before I had a chance to do anything, which is rude.
She thought for barely a second, tapping her finger on her chin but barely paused for breath in a similar manner to him. “Oh course... But I believe watching me get arrested, slipping the cuffs and running down the street away from the confused cop and the distraught idiot man who carries to much cash would have been far worse than simply not giving you a chance to wave me goodbye”
She said goodbye in air quotes with more than a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Rory did like to have an answer for everything and most people tended to just give up on her mid way through a conversation.
"So glad I meet your standards. Is traffic dodging ability what you usually look for in a guy? Seems a bit of an odd quality to search for." “Traffic dodging is a good talent for anyone to have. Wouldn't exactly like to have a conversation with a person who could resemble steak tartar the next morning.”
Rory shrugged her shoulders, she didn't really look for anything in a guy really, they where generally there to pass the time and occasionally she found a good one who she could stick around with for more than a few nights before they got clingy. It was always handy to have ones with a boat load of cash and alcohol around. Other than that... men where entertainment, they could be president or a bar worker for all she gave a damn about. Although she had a preference for warmed people – Shadows where cold and oddly enough she hated the cold.
She held up a finger to pause him for a sec and she dropped her head down the take out the contacts. The bloody things irritated the heck out of her but people where less likely to help you up in the street with her eye colour. It weirded people out, she only wore them when she was working. She dropped the contacts back into a white container which she slipped into her picket, her eyes now back to the black natural colour rather than the freaky blue humans seemed to like so much.
“That is so much better.”

She smiled at his response. Good. It meant she wasn't one of those idiots who get annoyed when he argued a point. Arguments could be fun, but most people just got angry when he tried to prolong one. Seeing how much they could take before they snapped was fun too, though. It was amazing how much amusement you can get out of the annoyance of one person.
Her response was in a Style to his; the casual yet sustained burst of reasons why she was right and he was wrong. That's how a proper person argues.
“Oh course... But I believe watching me get arrested, slipping the cuffs and running down the street away from the confused cop and the distraught idiot man who carries to much cash would have been far worse than simply not giving you a chance to wave me goodbye.”
The air quotes weren't really necessary. Tristram could hear the sarcasm in her voice. He didn't need to think at all about a response, though. It just came naturally to someone such as him with a short attention span and an interest in the unusual. "Are you joking? That would be brilliant. The look on the policeguty's face would be excellent. That would surely be a Kodak moment. Anyway, disappearing as you got to the road would actually probably confuse the brains out of any 'normal person' so I don't know why you chose the less amusing of two impossible escapes." He said, again barely pausing for breath. Some people ask how he can talk like that, his answer is always 'why can't you?' It was always something that came easily to him.
“Traffic dodging is a good talent for anyone to have. Wouldn't exactly like to have a conversation with a person who could resemble steak tartar the next morning.”
Tristram responded to this first by raising an eyebrow, He waited a second before actually answering, though. "That's a bit silly really. Not wanting to have a conversation with someone because they could be dead soon. One; why should you care anyway, and two; Traffic isn't the only killer. You might as well not talk to anyone because a murderer could stab them in the back as they walked home that night. Unless you have some special fear of talking to possible future car crash victims."
Tristram wondered what Rory was doing when she suddenly dropped her head and put a hand to her eye. He realized pretty quickly that she was wearing contacts. Weird things they were, who thought up that idea, he wondered. It was probably a joking idea and now that guy is rolling in cash laughing his head off at his luck. Tristram knew that's what he'd do in that situation.
Black eyes, he thought when she raised her head again. Interesting. It must be fun scaring humans with them, he thought. Peering in through windows on an evening. That would get old pretty fast though. Still, he was sure she had at least some amusement from them.

Anyway, disappearing as you got to the road would actually probably confuse the brains out of any 'normal person' so I don't know why you chose the less amusing of two impossible escapes. Rory had to admit... he was right, that would be hilarious. She had played around with cops quite a bit but she was trying to avoid them today. This was a good street for harvesting and she didn't want the coppers to get an idea of what she looked like when she decided to come back in a week or so to replenish her stock. Although after today she wasn't really going to need to go out for a good whilst. Unless she planned on spending something ridiculously expensive.
“True but then if the same office was lurking around here in a week or two I wouldn't really get any work done now would I as I'd just had to run again. As fun as running is, I'd rather get my work done and get down the pub rather than faffing about.” She grinned at him, taking another bite of chocolate as he raised an eyebrow to her idea of steak tar tar. She had to try and not giggle... she just liked that word...

Rory shrugged her shoulders, she knew people tended to get killed easily, especially humans... they where very very breakable. But he hadn't got the reason... Rory just found people who got hit by cars a little useless as it was quite easy to avoid as long as you weren't a powerless little humans.
“Course I don't care if people get squished by cars but I'd rather not speak to some one useless enough to get hit by the stupid things. They aren't exactly hard to dodge after all and pretty easy to see coming unless your a squishy little human.” She shrugged before blinking a few times, her eyes feeling a little sore after the contacts but it would take long to get back to normal.
